There is never a shortage of restaurants to try in New York which is good for my palette, but bad for my bank account!  Thankfully there are places like these that serve delicious food at reasonable prices.

Sofia wine bar – This intimate wine bar just got voted “Best in Midtown” and “Critics Pick” by New York Magazine and it is easy to see why. Besides their great wine selection, Sofia offers delicious small dishes to go along with your wine such as prosciutto mac n cheese, bruschetta, and eggplant crostini.
2. Eatery – I tried Eatery for the first time last week because my friend who works at Marie Claire wanted to go somewhere close to her office.  Eatery was just a few blocks away from Hearst Tower and although the decor wasn’t much, the food hit the spot.  Everything on the menu looked appetizing, especially the chicken paillard, mahi mahi tacos, and salmon salad, but I ended up getting the Farmer’s market pasta which was excellent.
3.  Westville – Westville’s Chelsea location is my favorite.  The restaurant is pretty much always crowded, but it’s definitely worth the wait.  Westville uses only the freshest ingredients to prepare signature dishes like the lemon herb marinated chicken, cast iron turkey burger, and poached salmon sandwich.
4.  Diablo Royale – Their blood orange margarita is the best I’ve ever had.  Not to mention their queso dip, chicken enchiladas and guacamole.  It’s your typical mexican restaurant atmosphere until about 10PM when they turn up the music and dim the lights making you want just one more of those divine blood orange margaritas…
5.  Penelope – Penelope feels like a home away from home.  You could have date night here or meet girlfriends after work. The menu is a creative take on familiar recipes – the chicken pot pie is a must.  Talk about the ultimate comfort food.
6.  Kingswood – Situated in West Village, Kingswood is perfect for both small and large groups.  It manages to be intimate with individual tables along the sides, and spacious with two long communal tables in the middle.  Get a bottle of wine and a cheese plate to start and then try the cornish hen or chargrilled steak, you won’t be disappointed!
